Kamlang Tiger Reserve is in Assam/Arunachal Pradesh.
It’s a wild kingdom waiting to be explored. The sanctuary is located in the Lohit District of the northeastern Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. It’s named after the Kamlang River which flows through it.
But that’s not all, the place is also home to the Mishmi, Digaro Mishmi, and Miju Mishmi people, who according to legend, claim their descent from the King Rukmo of the epic Mahabharata. And if that’s not enough, they also believe in a myth of an invisible god known as Suto Phenkhenynon jamalu.
But let’s get down to the real reason we’re here, the wild animals. The sanctuary is located in tropical and sub-tropical climatic zones, making it the perfect habitat for the four big cat species of India: tiger, leopard, clouded leopard and snow leopard. And don’t forget about the Glow Lake, an important body of water in the sanctuary.
You can fly into the nearest airport in Dibrugarh, which is about 180km away, or catch a train to Dibrugarh railway station. But if you’re feeling adventurous, the region in and around Lohit is well connected to other cities by road, so you can road trip it.
So what are you waiting for? Let’s go on a wild adventure and spot some big cats in Kamlang Wildlife Sanctuary!”
