Monasteries have been the part and parcel of Buddhism and Jainism . However, in India, Buddhist monasteries are huge attraction in Himalayas, Leh, Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh. Some of the monasteries are so remote, that one has to trek for a week to reach them. The serene atmosphere, the Buddhist monks way of life, meditation, cuisine and festivals takes us to a different world.
There are prominent monasteries around Tibetan settlements like Bylakuppe near Mysore, Mumbai and Kolkatta as well.
