Gadhan Thekchhokling Gompa – is a nice perfect place for all those seeking some inner peace and calm.

Nestled in the heart of Manali, this monastery is a hub of activity for the Buddhists, but don’t worry, people from all faiths are welcome to join in and soak in the divine vibe.

The monastery is a small but enchanting shrine dedicated to Lord Buddha, and it was constructed in 1960 by Tibetan refugees. It’s not just a place for prayer and meditation, but also a great spot to witness the traditional Tibetan architecture. You’ll be greeted with a spacious walkway lined with lush green shrubbery that leads to the porch and entrance of the monastery.

The yellow pagoda that sits atop the structure adds a pop of colour to the pristine white walls, and the intricate mural work is a treat for the eyes.

Once inside, you’ll find a giant statue of Lord Buddha, colourful murals depicting his philosophy, and several tombs and prayer wheels. The monks offer prayers, share their knowledge about Buddhism, and you can also join them for meditation sessions in the peaceful environment of the monastery.

And, if you’re lucky, you might even catch some traditional Tibetan items on sale in the market nearby.

The best time to visit is in the mornings or evenings when the monks and devotees perform their rituals. And, if you’re on a budget, you can always take a local bus to get there.
