Nestled amidst the majestic Dhauladhar mountain ranges, the Tashi Jong Monastery is a hotspot for tourists.

This is not just any centre for worship, but also the home to many Tibetan refugees who have made this place their abode. And who can blame them? With its tranquil environment, the monastery has a unique charm that can’t be found elsewhere. The monks here sing mystical hymns that fill one with an unexplained sense of peace and tranquility.

The Tashi Jong Monastery is also home to a college for freshers and a Tibetan restaurant. And if you’re in the mood for some shopping, then the monastery’s crafts emporium has some amazing Tibetan artefacts that make for great souvenirs.

The complex comprises of several structures, including the Khamagar Institute, Stupa of Khamtrul Rinpoche, Yamantaka Temple, and the Kunga Raua Temple. The monastery also has a carpet factory that produces some of the finest carpets in the region.

The brightly painted walls and intricate wood carvings are a delight to witness. And the various manifestations of Lord Buddha, especially Buddha Shakyamuni, are a sight to behold.

Tashi Jong is a charming village that’s home to the Tashi Jong Monastery, and almost everyone who visits Palampur makes it a point to visit this serene and peaceful place.
