State Central Library is one of the largest library in Thiruvananthapuram city of Kerala. This magnificent library was built in 19th century by Raja Swathi Thirunal, along with the zoo, museum and art galleries. It was then known as people’s library.
The library has enormous collections of books under different sections – technical, sanskrit, malayalam, digital, reference etc.,
It also has an digital collection of books in searchable formats.
It owns a rare collection of old and precious documents that are not available anywhere else. It has 707 rare documents (644 English and 63 Malayalam books) containing 3,28,268 pages have been digitised and a Digital archive was opened in 2006.
It has a unique building with a nice architecture. It also houses a good canteen and a must visit for book worms.
