Sarjekot, situated in Malvan is on the coast. Located on the mouth of Talashil Estuary, Sarjekot boasts of natural safe inland anchorages, where many of Shivaji’s ships used to shelter during storm season.

It was built by none other than the great Shivaji himself.

The sunset view from this fort is absolutely breathtaking, making it a favorite spot for visitors.

Sarjekot is located just 3 kilometers away from Malvan jetty, and you can easily reach there by road. All you have to do is take a small twisted road on Achara Road, and you will be there.

The shoreline of Alibaug is home to two joint forts- Kolaba and Sarjekot. And what’s interesting about these forts is that they turn into land forts at the time of low tide, making them easily accessible by walking, and sea forts when it is high tide.

Did you know that Sarjekot was built on the rock adjoining the Kolaba fort? The main aim was to arrest the permeability of the area from enemies. Smart move, right? But that’s not all, the fort also has a dried up well covered in vegetation, and there was supposed to be a temple of Lord Vetal inside.
