Kittur Fort is near Dharward and Belgaum in north Karnataka. The fort and its surroundings are now of interest to many archaeological studies due to recent findings.

The fort was built by Desai Dynasty king – Allappa Gowda Sardesai. Now, the fort also functions as a small museum which displays artifacts found from the excavations. It has a rich display of weapons, swords, mail-coat, shield, engraved wooden doors and windows of the Kittur palace.
