If you are an history buff, the Sardar Government Museum, also known as the Jodhpur State Museum, is the perfect place for you to delve into the rich culture and history of this vibrant city.
Located in the heart of the Public Park (Ummed Bagh), this museum boasts an impressive 18,000 sq. ft. of fascinating exhibits and artifacts.
The museum was built by Henry Vaughan Lanchester in 1909 and formally opened to the public in 1936, under the reign of Maharaja Umed Singh. The museum is divided into four sections – the archaeological area, the armor, the display of arts and crafts, and the historical section.
As you wander through the museum, you’ll come across a plethora of weapons, textiles, miniature paintings, sculptures, and other metallic objects, all of which will give you a glimpse into the lives of the people of Jodhpur in the past.
You can spot some military plane models and battleships, showcasing the city’s fierce warrior heritage. And for the little ones, there’s a display of stuffed animals, showcasing the indigenous fauna of the region.

The museum is open from Saturday to Thursday, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and is closed on Fridays and public holidays.
