Ramnagar Fort is a Royal residence in Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.
If you are ready for a royal adventure? Look no further than the Ramnagar Fort.
It is located just 14 km from the holy city of Varanasi. Built by Maharaja Balwant Singh in the 18th century, this fort boasts of grandiose architecture with carved balconies, arcades, towers, open courtyards and pavilions. But here’s the catch, only a portion of the fort is open to the public as the rest is reserved for the royal residence.
The museum inside the fort is a treat for history buffs, but don’t expect to see any shiny vintage cars or pristine armory. Instead, you’ll find a collection of neglected vintage cars, dusty swords, cannons, and old guns. But don’t let that discourage you, the museum also houses jewel-encrusted chairs, religious manuscripts, and royal costumes. The Dakshin Mukhi Hanuman, Durga Temple, and Chhinnamastika Temple are also located at Ramnagar.
Take a stroll on the podium at the bank of Ganges and let nature take over your senses. The entrance fee is just INR 75, and we think they should charge more to maintain the museum. And here’s an interesting fact, when the Maharaja is in residence, the flag of the fort is raised.
