Raja Sumer Singh Fort is built on the banks of Yamuna river over a small mound in Etawah in Uttar Pradesh.
It is now a government guest house. The entry to this guest house has to be done with district administration.
Not only is it a fort, but it’s also an ancient architectural wonder. The Baradai, a part of the fort, has twelve doors that will leave you scratching your head trying to count them. One minute you think there’s eleven, the next thirteen! It’s like a magic trick, but with doors.
Etawah, by the way, is a town with a rich history. Back in the day, it was a battle ground for two contending armies.
If you’re flying in, the closest airport is Lucknow Airport, about 230 km away. But if you’re feeling adventurous, you can also land in Kanpur airstrip, 165 km away.
By train, you’ll be arriving at Etawah Railway Station. And if you’re road tripping it, you’ll be taking the Agra Etawah Kanpur Highway or the Agra Lucknow Expressway.
But here’s the catch, this Heritage Hotel is not available for common tourists. It’s reserved for the elite and fancy folks. So, brush up on your royal etiquette and book your stay with the government!
