Lucknow Museum is the wildest museum you will ever see in the world.
Established in 1863, it’s located inside a zoo – yes, you heard that right, a zoo!
So, if you’re in the mood for some history and antiquities, but also want to see some monkeys and lions, this is the place for you. But, before you get too excited, let me warn you – you’ll need two tickets for this adventure, one for the zoo and one for the museum.
And the best part? The museum is located at the end of the zoo, so you’ll have to walk through the entire zoo just to get to it.
But trust me, it’s worth it. Once you’re inside, you’ll find hundreds of exhibits on display, including art, archaeology, paintings, manuscripts, numismatics, and anthropology.
But, watch out for the narrow corridors, they’re filled with hidden gems that you don’t want to miss.
The museum has a Buddha gallery, Jain art gallery, coin collection, natural history section, war museum section, and even an Egypt section.
But, don’t expect the displays to be in tip-top shape, and the employees are not always the most helpful. But, despite all that, the bronzes and Egypt section are pretty impressive.
