Welcome to the majestic Jaswant Niwas Palace, located in the charming town of Sailana! This historic property is not just a hotel, it’s a living, breathing piece of history.

Step back in time as you wander through the grand halls of this magnificent palace, built in 1898 by the revered H.H Raja Sir Jaswant Singhji Bahadur K.C.I.E of Sailana. The palace was constructed during a time of famine, with the intention of providing employment to the local people.

The property comprises of not just one, but two magnificent palaces – the Jaswant Niwas Palace and the Rang Mahal. The latter, built in 1845 by Raja Takht Singhji, is the older of the two and was once the zenana section. The property also includes the Maharaja Ratan Singhji Museum, displaying a rich collection of weaponry, artefacts, and family photographs, as well as paintings by the late Maharaj Jai Singhji.

Hidden behind the palace is a gem of a garden, the famous Cactus Garden of Sailana. Started by the late H.H Raja Digvijay Singhji, a celebrated plant collector, this garden is more than 70 years old and is the first and oldest in Asia.

With numerous varieties of cacti and succulents, including the golden barrel cactus, the organ pipe cactus, and the Mexican giant cactus, this garden is a must-visit for all plant lovers. Keep an eye out for the night-blooming cereus and the blue myrtle cactus, as well as small animals and birds that call this place home, such as the common palm civet, grey Indian hornbill, Indian barn owl, and collared owlet.

The Palace now functions as a heritage hotel, offering 4 grand double bedrooms, each with an attached dressing room and bathroom. The interiors are adorned with art deco furniture, antique artifacts, paintings by Ramada Ukil, and a 30-foot long dining table.

For your entertainment, there’s a billiard room, library, TV lounge, board games, and a squash court. With so much to explore and experience, your stay at the Jaswant Niwas Palace is sure to be one for the books!
