Budikote is located in Bangarpet Taluk in Kolar District of Karnataka. It is roughly about 60 kilometers from Bangalore and can be weekend expedition. It is known locally as Fort of Ash and is also the birthplace of Hyder Ali, father of Tipu Sultan. It was built during 8th century by local Pala Nayaks. There are only few remains of the fort and two ancient Vishnu temple there.
