Athirappilly Falls is a thunderous waterfalls on Chalakuddy river in Thrissur district in Kerala. It is a major tourist attraction during monsoon season as one can observe the Chalakuddy river drops of 80 feet with loud noise. The view of river is majestic and mind blowing. One can also take bath in the report upstream of the river in shallow place as well in fast moving streams.
Though crowded, it is easy to find a spot to have fun in water. It will be a memorable experience to enjoy the pristine clean water fresh after monsoon in the western ghats. The entire area will of green and white of nature. For the urban dwellers, it will be an awesome experience.
The waterfalls is roughly 30 kilometers to Chalakuddy town. The road to the falls is windy, curvy and smoothly tarred, making it a unique experience.
During lean water flow, one can enter the foot of waterfalls as well. During heavy flow, entry is closed. There are guard rails and warning ropes and flags. Do not cross and venture beyond, it may be dangerous.
