Anjaneri, one of the forts in the mountain range of Nasik-Trimbakeshwar, is considered to be the birthplace of Lord Hanuman.

Located in the Trimbyakeshwar range, Anjaneri Fort is one of the most important forts in Nashik. It’s perched on a hilltop and offers breathtaking views of lush green hills and farm fields.

As you trek up to the fort, you’ll notice the twin pinnacles of Navra and Navri. And if you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of the Cape York Lily flower, a rare species of Curcuma, which has both medicinal and food values. You won’t find these beauties in the Western Ghats, but here, they’re in abundance.

You’ll also travel across a meadow that’s around 4 km long, and is covered with stunning wildflowers like Sonki and day flowers. And if that’s not enough to make you feel like you’re in a fairy tale, there’s a lake shaped like a foot! The villagers might tell you some stories about it, but there’s no evidence to support them.

The fort also has caves with carvings that have been carved out by Jains, a citadel, and a huge Anjani Mata temple. And if you’re up for an adventure, you can even camp out in the temple with other trekkers. Who knows, maybe Lord Hanuman will bless you with his presence.

So, pack your bags, catch a train to Nashik, and hire a jeep or a State Transport bus to reach the fort. Trust me, you won’t regret it. And who knows, maybe you’ll come back with a tale of your own to tell.
