Ahivant Fort is a fort located 55km from Nashik, in Nashik district, of Maharashtra.

Welcome to the wild world of Ahivant Fort! Nestled in the Nashik district of Maharashtra, this fort has a history as colorful as its rugged terrain. And with three forts- Achala, Ahivant, and Mohandar- guarding each other like school bullies, you know you’re in for a thrilling adventure!

Captain Briggs, the resident fort critic, described Ahivant Fort as a “large and shapeless hill, remarkably bleak and unhealthy.” But don’t let his words dampen your spirits- this fort has so much more to offer than meets the eye. Unlike Achala, Ahivant has a broader plateau that takes a whole day to explore.

And if you’re up for some cave exploration, you’ll find a couple on the forts..

If you’re coming from Dare village, keep an eye out for the devastated structures of two big entrances. And if you’re lucky, you might spot remnants of old palaces and Shivlings scattered throughout the area. And if you’re really lucky, you might stumble upon one of the two to three lakes on the fort- perfect for a quick dip to beat the heat.

Ahivant Fort has seen its fair share of battles and takeovers over the years. From the Mughals to Shivaji Maharaj, this fort has been a hot commodity for centuries. And let’s not forget the time Emperor Aurangzeb was so angry at Shivaji Maharaj’s looting and pillaging that he had to lay siege to Ahivantgad for over a month.

To reach Ahivant Fort, you have two options. The first is via Dare village, which will take you around 2 and a half hours. The second is through Pimpripada-Achala, a longer route that will have you meandering through scenic temple routes and quaint villages. Whichever route you choose, be prepared for a wild ride!
