Sagargad Fort is located in Alibag taluka of Raigad District.

First things first, to reach the fort, you need to head to Khandale Village on Alibag-Pen Road. The path to the fort is well-marked and starts from the village. It’s a gentle walk of 2 hours, which gives you plenty of time to take in the beautiful scenery around you.

Along the way, you’ll come across a small temple of Mahishasurmardini and a water tank. But the real treat is the “Dodhane” waterfall. Trust me; the beauty of this waterfall is out of this world, especially during the Monsoon season. It’s worth the trek just to see this waterfall alone.

But the real kicker is the Siddheshwar Monastery located on the Sagargad. You can even make a night halt in the monastery if you’re feeling adventurous. Just imagine spending a night in a monastery on top of a hill fort, surrounded by beautiful scenery. Sounds like the perfect adventure to me!

Now, let’s talk about the fort itself. Sagargad Fort is located amidst lush and thickly forested expanses, offering beautiful sea views. And before being finally handed over to the British, the fort changed hands between rulers like Shivaji, Bhivaji Gujar, Kanhoji, and more.

It’s even rumored that prisoners were hurled to their death from the monkey point at the fort.

So there you have it, folks. Sagargad Fort is a must-visit spot for anyone looking for an adventure.
