Kurdugad Fort is in the Raigad district of Maharashtra.

Legend has it that the fort is named after the goddess Kurdai, whose temple lies at the base of the fort. But wait, there’s more! The fort is also known as Vishramgad, which means a place to relax and chill.

The journey to reach the base of the fort might take 2 hours, but it will be a pleasant time. The trail passes through a water stream, dense forests, and rock patches with idols on them. Keep your eyes watchful, as you might just spot some monkey business on the way!

Once you reach the base, it takes only 30 minutes to reach the top. But don’t let the short duration fool you, as the climb can be quite hectic and draining. So, make sure you carry enough water and snacks to keep yourself energized.

The fort is surrounded by hills from three sides, which offers a spectacular view of the valleys of Konkan. And if you’re lucky enough to visit during the rainy season, the gorge and the cliff from the fort will take your breath away! Just make sure you don’t slip and slide your way back down the hill.

The fort has two pinnacles, one being the top of the fort. And if you’re feeling adventurous, you can take a detour to the pinnacle near the Southern end, which offers a clear and breathtaking view of the valleys of Konkan.

And hey, don’t forget to visit the temples of Devi Kurdai and Kurdeshwar Mahadev at the base of the fort. Who knows, you might just get some divine intervention to help you with the climb!
