Looking for a fun and exciting destination for your next travel adventure? Look no further than Kunjargarh, or as it’s affectionately known, Kombra Killa! This amazing fort is named after the Sanskrit word for elephant, “Kunj”, and for good reason. From the base village of Vihir, it looks just like a giant elephant!

Located in the Akole taluka of the Ahmednagar district in Maharashtra, Kunjargad Fort is a must-visit spot for any adventurer. Getting there is half the fun, with two or three different routes to choose from. You can head to the remote village of Phofsandi, which is situated on a plateau at the top of a hill range. From there, you can take a trail leading to Vihir village or climb the stairway leading to the fort. Or, if you’re feeling extra adventurous, you can try the route via Kotul in Akole taluka and follow the footpath to Viheer village.

Once you arrive, you’ll be blown away by the stunning views from the top of the fort. The Mula river valley stretches out before you, and on a clear day, you can even spot Harishchandragad, Kalad, Ajoba, Ghanchakkar, Bhairavagad and Kalsubai Rang!

But that’s not all – if you’re feeling brave, you can even explore the cave carved into the rock on the fort. Just be careful as you navigate the narrow passages and watch your step! And don’t forget to check out the pit in the inner corner of the cave – it’s definitely a unique feature.

So what are you waiting for? Plan your visit to Kunjargad Fort and experience the beauty and excitement of this incredible destination for yourself! Just make sure you bring your sense of adventure (and maybe a flashlight, just in case).
