Pykara Upper Falls is the wide Pykkara river water falling over rocky boulders in a slope with displaying a white stream before turning greenish blue as river stream. It is near Ooty and one of the major attractions of it. During peak summer, there will be only a trickle and the waterfalls is at best when the river is in full flow in monsoons.
You cannot get in the water but you can enjoy the view from a podium. To reach the waterfalls, one has to trek around 1 kilometer or you can use a electric golf cart like vehicle, which are available for hire at a cost of INR 20 per adult. There is a children play area as well.
