Promenade Beach is near the famous Bharathi Park and hence the heart of Pondicherry. It is also the most frequented beach in Pondicherry.
Though there is only isolated spots of sandy plots, most of the beach is reinforced by rocks to protect the coast from corrosion.
There is a nice walking trail, where one can enjoy a beach walk in the evening. The beach is also well maintained.
