Poompuhar Beach is a beach which loaded history dating back to several centuries. It is recorded in several poetries in 5th to 10th century AD. This Poompuhar beach and town has been lost to sea as per earlier references. However, now the beach is reinforced by granite rocks and one can enjoy the rocky beach.
