Pabar Durga Fort is lesser-known than its famous counterparts like Kalsubai, Alang, Madan, Kulang, Ratangad, and Ghanchakkar, but that just makes it all the more intriguing. Standing at the Bhandardara bus stand facing the reservoir, you can’t miss the giant wall of Durg Pabar blocking the horizon.

To get there, you’ll need to take a detour on your way to Randha Falls and head towards the northern tail of Pabar. You can also catch the train to Ratangad from this corner. But if you’re up for a challenge, you simply must test your rock climbing skills on Pabar’s three small stages. It’s the perfect way to get your blood pumping and feel alive!

But the real reward comes when you reach the top. From there, you’ll have a spectacular view of the Bhandardara Reservoir of Palikad. And if you want to see the full reach of the dam, climbing Pabar is the only way to do it. It may take you 15 minutes, but it’s worth every single step.

Once you’re at the top, take the path to the right and you’ll find two caves. The first cave is especially cool to stay in and offers an incredible view of the vast Wilson Reservoir, Kalsubai Rang, and a chilly wind that will give you the shivers – in a good way! There’s water in a neighboring cave, but be warned: it’s mossy. If you climb some dug steps and go further up, you’ll see a long big water tank on the left side of the plain, and its water is drinkable.

But the adventure doesn’t stop there. If you go west, you’ll come across two more tanks, and you’ll even see the remains of plows in the area. Keep going and you’ll see two dug tanks that are visible even from a distance. To get there, you’ll need to descend a little, but trust us – it’s worth it.

As you make your way back on the ridge path, keep an eye out for a tank of good water that’s dug into the cliff, with a sculpture of Maruti engraved on it. And once you pass another dry tank, you’ll find yourself near the temple of Bhairoba, where your gadferi ends.

Sure, Pabar Durga may not be mentioned in the history books, but the carved steps and tanks prove its antiquity.
