Kakochang Waterfalls is 23 kilometers away from Kaziranga National park.
This waterfall is a hidden gem among the ruins of Numaligarh, a historical site. Nearby, is the Deoparbat or Deopahar ruins, the picturesque landscapes of tea, coffee and rubber farms. It’s like a buffet of nature’s delights.
Now, the locals call it Kaipholangso, but we like to call it the “Kakojan” waterfall. It’s located amidst maiden and unexplored nature’s gift, and topographically it falls under Karbi Anglong district of Assam. It’s easily accessible from Bokakhat, a small town situated in the Golaghat district of Assam.
The trek to the waterfall is about 4 kilometers and takes about a day to explore well.
The best part? You can combine your waterfall adventure with a visit to the world heritage Kaziranga National Park. Just 23 kilometers away, it’s a match made in heaven.
You’ll have to park your vehicle about 1 km from the falls, so don’t forget to carry slippers, you will have to walk through several streams. The walk will take about 15 to 20 minutes. Comfortable distance, manageable terrain. Carry your costume, towel etc, if you wanna take a dip in the falls. The falls are beautiful, not crowded. Clean and peaceful place. You can spend about an hour or two over there. The water is chilled and refreshing.
Some local villagers sell pineapples, Bamboo chicken etc close by, you can try that, it’s good.
Overall, it’s a nice place to go and enjoy. But if you’re looking for something more, it’s almost like Doodhsagar falls in Goa. So, grab your backpacks and let’s go waterfall hunting!”
