Ghosalegad Fort is ituated near the town of Roha, this hill fort was built to keep an eye on the business and trading routes around Maval to the sea ports. And boy, does it have some stories to tell!
The trek itself has an easy trail with Ghosale village as its base. But if you’re feeling brave, you can take the other route that goes around the Balekilla – just be careful, because the path is narrow and slippery. Along the way, you’ll spot water cisterns and caves, and you might even catch a glimpse of the fort’s toilets – talk about luxury!
Once you reach the Citadel, you’ll be rewarded with some spectacular views of the surrounding region. From the bastion, you can take in the beautiful scenery and feel like a king or queen overseeing your kingdom. And if you’re feeling adventurous, take a stroll around the Balekilla hill, where you’ll find even more caves, rock cut water cisterns, and a cannon near the western side of the hill.
But the real fun begins when you start exploring the fort itself. There’s a Chor Darwaja or secret doorway which was used as an escape route that connects the narrow wall of fortification. And let’s not forget about the Sharabh carvings on two stones near the main entrance – who knew you could find such cool art on a fort?
Overall, the Ghosalgad Fort trek is a great way to get some exercise, learn some history, and have some fun. Whether you’re a seasoned trekker or just starting out, this trek is definitely worth a visit. So gather your friends, pack your bags, and get ready to make some unforgettable memories!
