Bahu Fort is on the banks of Tawi river in Jammu.

This ancient fort is believed to have been built by the Rajput Raja Bahulochan around 3,000 years ago.

But that’s not all – the fort is also a religious site, home to the famous Bawe Wali Mata temple dedicated to the Hindu goddess Kali. With its rich history and fascinating legends, the Bahu Fort is a must-visit for anyone traveling to Jammu.

According to local legend, Bahu Fort was established by Bahu Lochan, the eldest of 18 sons of the powerful ruler Agnigarbha II of the Jammu dynasty of Suryavanshi kings. Over the years, the fort has undergone many renovations and modifications, but the current structure was rebuilt by Autar Dev in 1585 and refurbished during the rule of Maharaja Ranbir Singh.

As you explore the fort, you’ll be amazed at its rich history and strong fortified walls. From its earliest recorded link to Raja Jambu Lochan and Bahu Lochan to its association with the Sikh Empire, the Bahu Fort has seen it all.

So, what are you waiting for? Pack your bags and head to Jammu to experience the rich history and beauty of the Bahu Fort. Trust us, you won’t be disappointed!”
