The Tulip Garden in Srinagar is a must visit when you are there in Kashmir.
Nestled in the foothills of Zabarwan Range and overlooking the magnificent Dal Lake, the Tulip Garden is a feast for the eyes. With a sprawling 30 hectares of land, the garden is a terraced wonderland of seven tiers, each filled with the most colorful and fragrant blooms you can imagine. From tulips to hyacinths, daffodils and ranunculus, the garden is a botanical paradise.
The Tulip Festival mostly in March-April, an annual celebration of the garden, is an event not to be missed! The festival is organized by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir to promote floriculture and tourism in the region. Held at the onset of spring, the festival is a celebration of the blooming season of tulips, and provides visitors the opportunity to admire the beauty of the garden in full bloom.
Not only is the garden a visual treat, but it also provides a glimpse into the rich culture and history of Jammu and Kashmir. Visitors can indulge in the local handicrafts and clothing, available at stalls run by the local inhabitants.
The Tulip Garden is conveniently located near the Sheikh Ul-Alam International Airport in Srinagar, just 18 km away. You can hire a bus or taxi from the airport to reach the garden.
