Thirumayam Fort is a large fort with two huge popular temples is near Pudukkottai in Tamil Nadu. It is on the major highway which connects Karaikudi and Pudukkottai. The fort spread across 40 acres of land and is believed to be built by Ramnad kings. Now the fort complex is maintained by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
The bhairavar temple is in northern side. It is possible to trek to the top of the fort and spend some quality time enjoying the country side. There is a Lord Vishnu temple and Lord Shiva temple near the fort and both have brilliant architecture.
