Tapalwadi and Anandwadi Waterfalls are sister waterfalls situated closely at the base of Peb Fort hill.

With an approximate height of 90 feet, these waterfalls are safe to visit as the pool depth is waist-deep. But be aware, the force of the water falling is still great, so hold on tight!

During heavy rains, the water can turn muddy with rocks falling from above suddenly. So, be careful and make sure to wear monsoon sandals only, as slippers may drown out in the water. Also, do not forget to carry food and a water bottle, thoughthe water here is drinkable and comes straight from the top of Matheran.

If you are going to Tapalwadi for the first time, it may be difficult to find the path. But don’t worry, the locals will help you reach there. And once you are there, you will be surrounded by the beauty of nature and friends.

Tapalwadi is easily accessible from Tapalwadi village and is a small waterfall but good enough for a quick visit. It’s the best waterfall for families and friends to enjoy. Although the water level may be low during the off-season, you can still have a blast in the main waterfall.

But wait, there’s more! Anandwadi waterfall is even more beautiful than Tapalwadi, with a stronger force of water and deeper pool depth. However, it’s a bit of a trek to get there, around 1 hour of walking distance. So, if you plan to visit both waterfalls, make sure to bring your walking shoes!

But remember, don’t throw waste in the river as it harms the environment. Keep the place clean and keep the plastic bags and wrappers with you. And if you’re a couple, don’t go alone, as it may take a long time to get help if you get into trouble.

The best time to visit Tapalwadi is during the monsoon months (June-September). It’s located 65 kilometers towards east from district headquarters Alibaug and 60 kilometers from state capital Mumbai.
