Step back in time and discover the rich history of the Firoz Shah Palace Complex in the city of Hisar, Haryana, India! This magnificent structure was built by Firuz Shah Tughlaq in 1354 AD and is a true testament to the grandeur of Mughal architecture.

The complex boasts of a mosque known as Lat ki Masjid, which is named after the 20-foot-high sandstone pillar that was once an Ashokan pillar. The Gurjari Mahal, another palace built by Firoz Shah for his wife, is also located nearby.

Jahaj Kothi Museum, a former residence of George Thomas, is now maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India and is a must-visit for history buffs. This palace, known as Hisar-i-Firuza, is located at the crossroads of the old Delhi Multan Road and the historic region of Khorasan.

The construction of the palace complex began in 1354 CE and was completed after two and a half years. Stone was brought from the hills of Mahendragarh to build the ramparts, which were surrounded by a protective moat. The tank inside the complex was used to refill the moat and the courtiers were ordered to build their palaces within the fort walls.

Restoration work on the palace began in 1924 and has been ongoing ever since. Today, the Firoz Shah Palace Complex is a Centrally Protected Monument by the Archaeological Survey of India, and is a must-visit for all history enthusiasts. So, come and experience the rich heritage of India!
