This is a private commercial nursery with an exotic collection of cactus that will make you green with envy. Mr. Pradhan left his orchid business to pursue his passion for cacti and started collecting different species from around the world during his business trips. He then built a greenhouse at his home to grow his collection, which now houses over 1500 species of cactus!
Spread over 2 acres, Pine View Nursery boasts of the largest collection of cactus in all of Asia. The nursery has won several national and international awards for breeding different types of cacti, all at a single place. You can even buy some of the varieties for yourself!
But before you start to prick up your ears too much, there are a few things to keep in mind. The approach road to the nursery is a steep ascent from the main Reshi Road, so it’s best to hire a car or cab. Hiking lovers can enjoy a walk, but the journey might leave you with a few thorns in your side. And while the inside of the nursery offers a panoramic view of Kalimpong town, the cacti for sale are pretty common, which might be a bit of a letdown for those looking for something more unique.
