Cactus Garden is a unique garden in Chandigarh where you have prickly species spread over 7 acres.

This is the largest succulent botanical garden in Asia

Established in 1987, this National Cactus and Succulent Botanical Garden and Research Centre is a safe haven for over 3,500 rare and endangered species. It’s like the Noah’s Ark for succulents! Dr. J.S. Sarkaria, the mastermind behind the design of the garden, has created a stunning landscape that houses 500 different varieties of cacti.

Not only does this garden have a huge collection of Indian succulents, but it also has a vast collection of genus Mammillaria, and the largest outdoor collection of Bursera (Mexican Origin). The garden also has a collection of Pachypodium, Fouquiria Spendens from Arizona, and Adenia Venenata that belongs to Passifloraceae family and has been brought from Yemen. Can you believe it?

The garden has nine glasshouses showcasing a variety of cactus genera, and you can even buy plants to take home with you. And if that’s not enough, a cactus show is organized every March.

Head over to the Cactus Garden and get ready to be blown away by the unique collection of cacti and succulents. And don’t forget to bring your camera and your sense of humor.
