Bharatgad Fort is a fort located 18km from Malvan, in Sindhudurg district, of Maharashtra.
This fort is located on the southern bank of Gad river or Kalaval creek. The fort is spread over an area of 4-5 acres and covered with mango orchard.
Located in the picturesque village of Masure near Kalavali Creek in Malvan Taluka, this fort was built by the legendary ruler Shivaji Maharaj in 1701. But did you know that he had to drop his plans earlier due to a water shortage? Well, that’s where the Phond Savants stepped in and provided a well, and the fort was finally formed.
Now, as you enter the fort, you’ll feel like you’re entering a dense forest because of all the greenery. And the walls of the fort have small niches and crevices that were used by soldiers to shoot arrows at their enemies.

Although the fort was occupied by various dynasties over the years, it’s still standing tall in Maharashtra.
