“Welcome to the land of mystery and ghostly tales, Bhangarh Fort. Located at the edge of the Sariska Tiger Reserve in the Alwar district of Rajasthan, this 17th-century fort has a reputation as the most haunted place in India. The eerie and negative aura surrounding the fort has led to villages being built far away, out of fear of what may reside within. Even the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has banned locals and tourists from entering the fort after dark.

But don’t let the spooky reputation deter you from visiting this ancient specimen. The history of Bhangarh Fort dates back to the 17th century and was built by Man Singh I, one of Akbar’s court Navratnas, for his son Madho Singh I.

So, what makes Bhangarh Fort so haunted? There are two legendary tales about the fort that have been passed down for generations. Let’s take a look at both.

The first legend says that a king named Madho Singh built the fort with permission from an ascetic named Bala Nath, who lived in the area. The condition was that the shadow of the fort must never fall upon the ascetic’s home. However, one of Madho Singh’s successors added to the fortifications vertically, causing the shadow to fall upon the ascetic’s home. This broke the agreement and led to the fort being doomed and haunted.

The second, and more popular legend, claims that Princess Ratnavati of Bhangarh is responsible for the fort’s haunted state. A local black magician fell in love with her and attempted to use black magic to make her fall in love with him. The princess suspected his intentions and foiled the plot by pouring the bewitched cosmetic on a boulder, which then crushed the magician to death. Before he died, he cursed the entire fort and its surroundings, causing it to be haunted ever since.

It is said that spirits roam the fort at night and strange noises can be heard. There are even tales of people who entered the fort at night and never returned. The ASI has banned entry to the fort from 6 PM to 6 AM, so be sure to plan your visit accordingly.

In conclusion, Bhangarh Fort is a fascinating and eerie destination for those looking for a spooky adventure. So pack your bags, grab your bravest friends, and head to Bhangarh Fort for a ghostly adventure like no other.”
