Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area and tiger reserve as part of the Project Tiger, situated near Chikkamagaluru in Karnataka. The wildlife sanctuary has a wide range of flora and fauna and around 120 unique species is found here. The rare specie of Malabar squirel and Orangautan can be spotted here. This is a popular place for day outings. The 1,875 m (6,152 ft) above MSL Hebbe Giri is the highest peak in the sanctuary.
There are an estimated 33 number of tigers here. The ideal time to visit the sanctuary is from the month of October to February. Another popular spot is the 300 year old Jagara tree.
For the adventurist, there are jeep safari, trekking, bird watching, rock climbing, and water sports at river Bhadra.
