Beadon Falls is in Shillong in Meghalaya.
It is a twin waterfalls (Beadon and Bishop) in the beautiful city of Shillong. These cascading beauties are sure to take your breath away with their emerald green hills and diverse varieties of flora.
First up, we have Beadon Falls. Now, this one is a bit of a wild child, with rocky hills and stones interrupting the flow of the water. But, don’t let that fool you, it’s still a sight to cheer.
On the other hand, Bishop Falls is the popular kid on the block, with its cascading water resembling a white ribbon flowing down the hill. And let me tell you, at 450 ft tall, it’s the 22nd highest waterfall in the country.
To get the best view of these falls, head over to the front of Carmel Church in Mawlai. You can either walk the 4.5 km from Police Bazar or take a bus or shared taxi on the Guwahati-Shillong road and get off at State Bank Mawlai.
But, let’s be real, both of these falls can be seen from Mawlai or further down from the Bishop-Beadon point within the Shillong city limits.
Now, Beadon Falls might impress during the rainy season, during the dry season it’s not exactly a showstopper. Both Bishop and Beadon Falls drop down to a deep gorge of the Umshyrpi River, flowing through the picturesque Suna Valley. And, just for fun fact, these falls are fed by the rivers Wah Umkhrah and Umshyrpi, which ultimately join the Brahmaputra River.
So pack your bags, grab your cameras and let’s go waterfall hunting in Shillong! Just don’t get too disappointed if Beadon Falls is a bit of a letdown during the dry season.
