Visapur Fort is perched atop a lush green hill of Ratnagiri district in Maharashtra.

It’s the perfect destination for adventure mongers and nature lovers alike, offering stunning views from its 1084 meter elevation. But this fort isn’t just about the views – it’s also a gigantic architectural marvel, complete with ancient caves, arches, wells, and old houses. Plus, if you’re a Hanuman devotee, you’ll love the many temples dedicated to him within the fort.

And that’s not all – there’s a famous well within the fort, believed to have been built by the Pandavas, and you might even find remnants of Queen Elizabeth’s reign nearby.

Don’t miss the chance to explore the isolated caves, old house ruins, ancient water cisterns, and huge flour mill. And if you’re up for a challenge, trekking to the top summit of Visapur Fort is a must-do adventure.

Getting there is not that diffcult- just follow the old Pune-Mumbai route to reach Karla junction, then take a left turn and cross Malavali railway crossing and Bhaja village. Just a couple of kilometers before Lohagadh fort, take a left turn and reach the foothill of Visapur Fort. The trek to the entrance gate of the fort takes just 10-20 minutes, and there are plenty of restaurants at the foothill for snacks and food.

Just be warned – the road after Bhaja cave is steep and narrow, so only expert drivers should attempt to drive through. But trust us, the adventure is worth it!
