Thala Waterfall is located about 9 km away from Bharmour near Chamba.

Not only is it hard to find, but the water pressure is so high that you might get sucked into the bottom if you dare to take a dip. So, it’s probably best to just stick to admiring the pure visual delight of the cascading water forming a pool at the base.

But don’t let that scare you away from this gorgeous perennial waterfall. Surrounded by immense natural beauty, it’s an ideal place to come and have a quiet picnic.

Now, let’s talk about the adventure of finding this place. It’s notoriously hard to find, and even the locals seem to have little to no idea about it. But fear not, my fellow travelers! With a bit of determination and some help from reviews and descriptions, you too can conquer the quest to see Thala Waterfall.

Here’s what you need to do. On the way from Bharmour to Chamba, keep an eye out for a side road on your right that leads down to Thala village. Drive about 6 km until you reach Thala Bridge and park your car on the opposite side near the market. From there, follow a side path down via some stairs to some rocky embankments that need to be crossed to reach the magnificent waterfall.

Trust me, it’s a bit of a mission, but once you reach the falls, you’ll be rewarded with an awesome view that’ll make you forget all about the journey to get there. It’s quite a high waterfall with a pool where it descends sheltered among a cove. You can even take photos from different angles to capture the beauty of this natural wonder.

If you’re feeling extra adventurous, there are also upper and lower Ghared waterfalls located higher up on the mountain near some villages.

So, what are you waiting for? Get out there and conquer the quest to see Thala Waterfall. And don’t forget to pack a picnic to enjoy in the midst of all that natural beauty!
