Sri-Kumarakottam-Subramanya-Swamy-Temple is a Lord Muruga temple in the main town area of Kanchipuram. The temple is between Sri Ekambaranathar Temple and Sri Kamakshi Amman temple.
The temples is an ancient one and however, it was rebuilt in the year 1915. The temple still retains the grandeur of ancient age.
According to legends, Lord Subramanyar worshipped by Sri Kachiyaappa Sivachariyar who wrote Kanda Puranam. Further, the temple Lord Muruga was also worshipped by none other than Sri Arunagirinathar who composed Thirupugazh.
The Lord Muruga has also a five headed Naga and hence it is also considered as Naga Skantha kshetram.
Thirupugazh Kshetram
This temple is one of the temple, where Saint Arunagirnathar has composed poem on Lord Murugan. He lived in 15th century and his composition of poems on temples in Tamil Nadu and Srilanka is known as Thirupugazh.
