Skandagiri is one of the prominent fort and is a part of pancha giris in Chickaballabpur in Karnataka. The other 4 mountains are Nandi Giri, Chandragiri, Brahmagiri and Hema Giri.
Skandagiri is located in a village called Kalavara Halli, and hence it is also known as Kalavara Durga. At the foothills of Skandagiri lies one of Karnataka’s ancient and oldest mutts, the Papagni Mutt.
One can start the trail from Papagni Mutt and reach the ruins of a fort above. The fort was built during 18th Century by a local ruler and captured by Tipu Sultan.
From the top of fort, one can enjoy the view of other mountains and the valley below.
