Shankar International Dolls Museum is in Nehru House in Delhi.
This place is a doll-lover’s paradise with a collection of over 6,500 dolls from 85 different countries.
But be warned, some of these dolls may be covered in a nice layer of dust and there’s not always clear information on what makes them special. Kids who love dolls will have a blast, why sometimes, the old ones too.
The museum was set up by the famous political cartoonist, K. Shankar Pillai, and is located in the Children’s Book Trust building.
You’ll have to take a winding staircase to get to the first floor where the museum is located, but trust me, it’s worth it.
Not only will you learn about the rich history of how the great Shankar Pillai managed to capture culture and history through dolls, but you’ll also get to experience a little bit of nostalgia as you explore the collection of gifts from Prime Ministers and visiting dignitaries.
So, whether you’re a history buff or just looking for a fun family activity, the International Dolls Museum is the perfect destination for all ages. Just be sure to leave your fancy expectations at the door and come with an open mind and a love for dolls!
