Rajwada Palace is a magnificent and historical palace that is located in the city of Indore.

It’s was constructed by the Holkars in the 18th century . This seven-storied structure is a testament to royal grandeur and architectural skills.

To reach here, one has to navigate through the crowded streets of Kajuri Bazar and face the main square of the city. But trust me, it’s totally worth it! Once you’re there, you’ll find a well-maintained garden with a statue of Queen Ahilya Bai, an artificial waterfall, and some beautiful fountains.

This palace has seen some action, my friend. It has been burnt three times since its construction, and I’m not even kidding! The lower three floors are made of stone, while the top levels are made of wood, which made the building very vulnerable to destruction by fire. It was set on fire for the first time in 1801 by the commander Sarjerao Ghadge of the Sindhiya Dynasty.

But don’t worry, the palace has been reconstructed and renovated several times, and it’s still standing tall. In fact, the palace has been recently renovated and brought back its old glory to some extent. And guess what? The palace hall is now used for art exhibitions and classical music concerts!

And if you’re a history lover, you must watch the splendid sound and light show that takes place at the Rajwada Palace from Tuesdays to Sundays at 6:30 PM. You’ll get to know more about the palace and unravel its mysteries.

The style of construction of the Rajwada Palace is a blend of the Maratha, Mughal and French style of architecture. And when viewed from different angles, it looks Mughal, European, or even French. Isn’t that amazing?

So, if you’re ever in Indore, don’t miss out on the opportunity to visit this magnificent palace. You can reach there using any mode of transport, and if you’re feeling adventurous, take a rickshaw!
