Attention all space enthusiasts, a new planetarium has landed in Pune and it’s ready to blast off! The Pune Municipal Corporation has finally opened the doors to its latest brainchild, the Planetarium Pune at Sahakarnagar.
The Pune Municipal Corp has certainly invested a pretty penny, around Rs 5 crore to be exact, in building this cutting-edge planetarium. The facility has a seating capacity of 52 seats and is fully air-conditioned, so you can enjoy the show in comfort.
But here’s the kicker – the planetarium is more focused on Google XPrize moon competitions than your basic information about planets and eclipses. Don’t get me wrong, Google is awesome, but where’s the love for our own planet? C’mon, we need to educate the kiddos about the wonders of our solar system.
And let’s talk about the show’s quality. It was a 3D show without the 3D glasses, so it was like watching a blur image the entire time. Not exactly the immersive experience we were hoping for.
But fear not, fellow space cadets! The Planetarium Pune is still a great facility, and with a bit of improvement, it can be out of this world. So pack your bags, grab your telescopes, and head on over to Sahakarnagar. The planetarium timings are from 10 am to 1 pm and 4 pm to 7 pm, so there’s no excuse not to blast off!
