Nakki Lake is a beautiful lake in Mount Abu. This lake, which is known as the Nakki Jheel by the locals, is truly a nature lover’s paradise. With its stunning surroundings, the lake is a real gem of Mount Abu.
As one sails through the serene waters of Nakki Lake, it could feel like in a fairytale. The lush greenery, towering mountains, and strangely shaped rocks were just breathtaking. The lake is also considered as the love lake of Mount Abu. I mean, who wouldn’t feel romantic with clean blue waters and verdant surroundings?
But wait, there’s more! The Nakki Lake has a rich history and several legends associated with it. It is said that Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were immersed in the lake, and a ghat was constructed nearby. The lake is also considered sacred by the proud Garacia Tribe. And, as per the legends, the lake was built by Gods to protect themselves from their enemy, the Bashkali demon. Another legend is based on the love story of the sage Rakshiya Balam who dug the lake with his nails to win the king’s daughter’s hand in marriage.
Now, if you’re wondering how to experience the beauty of Nakki Lake, then worry not! You can take a refreshing boat ride in the lake, and it’s super affordable too, costing only between INR 50 to 100 per person. There are two types of boats available – pedal boats and Shikharas. The boat ride lasts for about thirty minutes, and it’s totally worth it!
So, when’s the best time to visit Nakki Lake, you ask? Well, I suggest you avoid visiting during summers when the mercury soars up to 39 degrees Celsius. Instead, visit during monsoons or winters when the temperature is more bearable, and the lush greenery enhances the lake’s beauty. And, if you want to avoid the crowd, visit the lake in the morning.
Well, that’s all from me about Nakki Lake. If you’re ever in Mount Abu, do visit this amazing lake and experience nature’s beauty in all its glory. You won’t regret it!
