The town is named after its devotion towards Sanatan Dharma, which is basically the foundation of Hinduism. And the main attraction here is the Raghavendra Swami Temple. If you’re planning a trip to Mantralayam, I suggest you reach there by noon and check into a hotel. There are plenty of options available, but try to choose one that’s closer to the temple – it’ll save you some travel time. Refresh yourself and head to the temple around 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Trust me, you don’t want to miss the evening aarti at 7:00 PM – it’s magical! And if you’re lucky, you might get to see the ‘rathotsavam’, a procession of chariots carrying the deities.
The next morning, take a dip in the Tungabhadra river and then visit the temple again before leaving. And there you have it, a perfect spiritual trip to Mantralayam!
