Are you ready to take a ride on the wild side? Well, maybe not that wild, but definitely high up in the sky! We’re talking about the Mansapurna Karni Mata Temple in Udaipur, folks!

This temple is a real hidden gem, located atop the Machhala Magar hilltop. But don’t worry about climbing all those stairs to get there – in 2008, a ropeway line was built to make it easy for the public to reach the holy shrine and seek blessings from Goddess Karni.

Let’s be honest, who wants to huff and puff up a hill when you can glide your way up in a cable car? The ropeway not only offers a comfortable means of reaching the temple in just five minutes, but it also provides a spectacular view of the surroundings.

The cable car journey starts from Deendayal Upadhyay Park at Doodh Talai, just 3 kilometres away from the Udaipur City Railway Station. And if you’re lucky enough to visit in the evening, around 6 to 7:30 PM, you might catch a glimpse of a beautiful sunset from the cable cars. Talk about a romantic ride!

Now, we know you’re probably wondering how much this thrill ride will set you back. The cost of entry for the ropeway is INR 87 for Indian adults, INR 43 for Indian kids (below the height of 110 centimetres), INR 300 for foreigner adults and INR 150 for foreigner children (below the height of 110 centimetres). So, it’s pretty affordable for an experience of a lifetime.

Once you reach the cable car stop point, you’ll need to walk through some steps to reach Karni Mata’s Temple. Inside the temple, you’ll find a white stone idol of the goddess Karni Mata, as well as a shrine of Pahad Wale Baba, also known as Malang Sarkar. But that’s not all – you’ll also find a fort wall and an ancient warehouse with a gate whose door panel is studded with spikes. Talk about a fortress!

But the real highlight of the ride is the view. From the cable car, you’ll see the best views of Udaipur, including Pichola Lake, Fateh Sagar Lake, the magnificent City Palace Complex, Sajjangarh Fort, and landscapes of the Aravali mountains on the other side of the lake. Plus, there’s a view point that’s the perfect spot for watching the sunset over the city. And at night, the lighting on the different palaces gives a splendid view.

So, what are you waiting for? Hop on board the cable car and take in the views from high above the city. And once you’ve had your fill of sightseeing, head over to the sunset point atop Machhala Hill for some mouthwatering cuisines served to your taste at very affordable rates.

It’s the perfect way to end an unforgettable day in Udaipur.
