Koothankulam Bird Sanctuary is one of the last few stops for the migratory birds from Central Asia. It is near Thirunelveli and one can take Moolakaraipetti road from Thirunelveli to reach here.
The bird reserve spreads across 132 acres of land. During seasons, one can see lot of birds nesting and their cackles. The best time to visit would probably be from November to February.
The bird reserve also has a watch tower, to enjoy the surroundings and good spot to view with binoculars. As a special, the bird sanctuary also has a dormitory for avid bird watchers.
