Kavaledurga is in Shimoga in Karnataka. It is a fort resting on the top of a hill amidst a dense forest and it requires a trek of at least 5 km to reach the summit. It will be worth to explore as it has some beautiful sculpted temples are on top. From above, the view of Arabian sea and the sunset it also spectacular.

The Fort has 3 rounds of rock wall fortifications and now most part is in ruins. However, one can still see the remains of a palace, bath, guard rooms and weapon storage houses. A freshwater pond on top of the fort is in excellent condition. The temples of Srikanteshwara temple and Nandi Mantapa are also beautiful which is situated on the hill
