Kalimpong Science Centre is located just a kilometer from Deolo Hill and nine kilometers from Kalimpong Bus Station, this place is a must-visit for science lovers of all ages.
Established in 2008 by the National Council of Science Museums (Ministry of Culture, Government of India), the Kalimpong Science Centre covers an area of 7 acres and is dedicated to promoting scientific knowledge and ideas to the masses, especially students. Inside, you’ll find a science observatory, a 3D movie theater, and plenty of scientific objects and working models to explore.
But it’s not just about indoor exhibits here – the Science Park is where the real fun is at! With massive dinosaur installations, exhibits on the evolution of species, and activities like Taramandal (an inflatable dome where you can learn about stars and planets), kids (and kids-at-heart) will have a blast. There’s even a medicinal garden to teach visitors about the values and habitats of various plants.
But let’s not forget about the Fun Science Gallery! With exhibits on pendulums, optical illusions, rolling balls, and even a kaleidoscope, there’s plenty of easy-to-use and understandable exhibits to play with and explore.
And if that’s not enough to get your scientific juices flowing, the Digital Gallery is sure to impress. Here, you can learn about the inception and journey of computerized scientific gadgets, including a Bluetooth printer and a phone where you can hear the voice of J.J. Thomson explaining the discovery of electrons. You can even learn about binary digits and barcode readers.
But the real kicker? As you walk through the digital corridor, you’ll see your image on the adjacent walls in the form of a bright red light covering the area of your shadow. It’s a scientific wonder that’s bound to startle you!
So, what are you waiting for? Come visit the Kalimpong Science Centre and let your inner science geek run wild! Just don’t forget to bring your sense of humor – you never know what scientific surprises await you.
