Gingee Fort is a medieval palace, fort on a hill top near Thiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu. Gingee town is well connected by train, bus and highways. There are many attractions on the hill top -water tank, scenic view of the country side, temple, granary etc., The fort has seen many wars from Shivaji to Aurangazed and it will be of interest to many history buffs.

It is one of the impregnable fort and is considered as Troy of the East. It was built between 3 hillocks with walls covering 13 kilometers with a height of 800 meters and protected by 24 meter wide and deep trenches. The total area enclosure are around 11 square kilometers.

The fort was originally built by Cholas in the 9th century as a small fort and later expanded by Hoysalas and Vijayanagara kings. The monument is now protected by Archaeological Survey of India.
